Fuel-Bios-KellyKelly Griffith
Pilates Instructor/Xtend Barre Instructor

Owner/Founder of Fuel Pilates & Xtend Barre DC
Kelly came to her first Pilates class in 2007, tired of her usual routine of cardio and weights at the gym. She was instantly hooked. Three years later, Kelly opened her own Pilates studio, fulfilling her dream of getting out behind a computer and creating a space where people can challenge themselves physically and mentally, yet are still able to laugh and enjoy themselves.

Kelly’s classes are energetic, fun, yet challenging. She’ll work you out hard while cheering you on. Kelly truly believes that if you do one push-up today, you’ll do two the next; she uses this philosophy to encourage her students to push themselves, work hard, and be a stronger version of themself tomorrow.

Kelly received her initial pilates mat certification from Power Pilates of New York City. She then completed the BASI Comprehensive Course (Body Arts and Science International) which qualifies her to teach mat, reformer, cadillac, chair and other apparatus. She also completed a pre/post-natal certification with Carolyne Anthony—the industry’s expert on the subject— from The Center of Women’s Fitness. In September of 2010, Kelly brought the Xtend Barre method to Fuel & DC—it’s been a huge success and she’s since opened her second studio Xtend Barre DC in the Shaw neighborhood.

When Kelly is not working at the studio, she enjoys traveling with her husband. But, ironically, whenever she’s on the road, she finds pilates. She’s done pilates at the Pilates Center of Boulder, Colorado, the home of Xtend Barre in Boca Raton, Florida as well as Lake Tahoe, London, Barcelona, Amsterdam…and the list continues!

Fuel-Bios-SaraBergerSara Berger
Pilates Instructor/Xtend Barre Instructor

Sara transplanted to DC from Columbus, Ohio in 2010, leaving behind her successful career with one of the country’s leading retailers in search of a path that aligned with her personal passions and life goals. Before her move, Sara re-injured a disc in her lower back for which she had previously undergone surgery. A trained dancer, rock climber, and woman with a highly active lifestyle, Sara knew a second operation would inhibit important aspects of her life. After trying countless therapies without relief, she discovered Pilates. Soon after, she noticed the changes she was searching for: a reduction in pain, increased strength and range of motion. After three years of practice, she knew this was the new career she had been looking for and completed her Comprehensive Teacher Training Certification course through BASI® Pilates in May 2014. Sara deeply believes that incorporating a Pilates program into your life is one of the most beneficial decisions you can make to build, restore and protect the body against injury while gaining strength and flexibility. She enjoys sharing the gift of Pilates with others.
